Preparing to hold the fourth edition of Point Conference Iraq 2022


Tawasul, in collaboration with international and local partners, is hosting this year's the fourth edition of Point Iraq Conference  , on the Hall of the Station Building (Co-founder of Point Iraq) from July 22-26. 2022. This year's session will be held at the regional level with international and regional participation to participate in this event.


Point is a unique event concerned with useing new media and technology in the work of of civil society organizations, and encourages the involvement of government institutions, parliament, private sector companies and citizens in initiatives that promote openness and transparency, and get added value from data reuse.


This year's Point Conference begins with a number of interactive sessions and presentations on July 22 and 23, 2022, where experts and activists from different countries around the world will be hosted in Baghdad for 13 panel discussions and ten presentations to the audience. These events will focus on presenting recent experiences and success stories about the use of technology in various fields, including enhancing the monitoring role for citizens through the use of interactive maps, machine learning algorithms to monitor violations in media content, and taking advantage of open source sites in media work.


This year's conference will simulate "Climate Change" as a main theme of the activities that will be held (sessions, presentations, conference hall decoration, costumes of volunteers and speakers, media coverage, and videos that will be specially produced for this purpose and will be shown for short time between sessions). Three of the most important environmental experts in Iraq, will participate in a session that will be dedicated to discussing the challenges and ability of Iraq to adapt to climate changes, preceded by an interactive presentation to introduce the global warming phenomenon and its expected effects on Iraq.


Point Conference 4.0 Meetings and Training Workshops

After the end of  the conference, Point management team will hold a number of meetings and training workshops from 24 to 26 July 2022, in which representatives of the government, parliament, international and local NGOs, as well as experts and academics, will participate to plan initiatives and programs that covered by the conference. Some of these events will be a training workshops conducted by experts and speakers participating in the conference, while other activities will include holding regional and national meetings on various issues.
